The Council has two wards - Cornsay and Hamsteels. The Hamsteels ward covers Hamsteels Estate and elects 8 councillors, while Cornsay Village and Cornsay Colliery form the Cornsay ward, electing 3 councillors.
Elections take place every 4 years.
